MEMBERSHIP, DIRECTORY ENTRY CRITERIA & ADVERTISING  POLICY

What is the Suffolk Association for Counselling?
The primary aim of the Suffolk Association for Counselling (SAC) is to promote counselling and good practice in Suffolk. Founded in 1990 the SAC is a voluntary organisation governed by a constitution and is managed by a Committee.

What does the Suffolk Association for Counselling do?
The SAC produces and manages an online Directory of Suffolk Counsellors which gives information about counsellors, counselling agencies, counselling supervisors and training agencies.   It is the most comprehensive resource available for anyone seeking a counsellor or counselling supervisor in Suffolk.

Aims and Objectives of the Association
  • To facilitate the exchange of information and ideas about counselling.
  • To facilitate mutual support for members.
  • To provide a network of contacts in the counselling movement.
  • To organise events, conferences, meetings or training.
  • To promote good professional practice.
  • To raise public awareness of counselling.

STUDENTS & ASSOCIATES

The first two levels of SAC membership are for Students and Associates and do not include a visible entry in the online directory.

Student Associates (formerly ‘Student Members’) – those with an interest in counselling who are currently undertaking training and have yet to qualify as counsellors/therapists. £7.50 p.a.  Student Associates enjoy reduced membership fees and SAC CPD at a reduced rate for the duration of their training.  They are not eligible to have a presence within the directory until they are qualified practitioners.

Associates (formally ‘Full Members’) – those with an interest in counselling and being part of the SAC who are not training, may or may not be qualified and do not wish to advertise via the online directory. £15 p.a.
